Evangelism and Community Care
Evangelism: We are all called to be evangelists, to spread the Gospel with the help of the Holy Spirit. Our purpose in life is evangelism!
We receive the Word of God at church through our Divine Service – scripture readings, sermon, and hymns. We also gain understanding of the Word of God through Bible studies, devotions, and resource booklets. We communicate with God through daily prayer – what an honor to speak directly to the Creator of the Universe!
All of these help to edify us in our witnessing at home, church, work, school – anywhere and everywhere we go!
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19-20
Community Care: Jesus served in His community every day, in many ways – teaching people, healing people, and feeding people. He didn’t sit in the synagogue waiting for people to come to Him. He went out to the people. He calls us to do the same. He gave us the honor and duty to help those in need.
Even simple things that help to meet someone’s need, always shows God’s love to others. We serve and provide hospitality to others, we encourage and build each other up, and we give hope to those around us.
“You are the salt of the earth.” “You are the light of the world. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 5:13,14&16 and 25:40
Our Ministries
Using established and successful processes, Trinity/HOPE raises money and administers feeding programs to provide hot nutritious daily meals to the children, teachers and cooks in Christian schools in Haiti. Trinity/HOPE is dedicated to bringing hope to the children of Haiti one bowl of beans and rice at a time. They also bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the children in its schools as they are being educated.
Concordia collects a freewill offering the first Sunday of every month for this program, as well as participating in annual fundraisers. Please support Trinity/HOPE! www.trinityhope.org
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” – Matthew 25:35
Our Evangelism Resources
The What About pamphlets from Concordia Publishing House address key points of Lutheran teaching, moral issues, and often discussed topics. They are explained from the point of view of what the Bible and the Lutheran Confessions have to say. This series of tracts has proven to be the most widely distributed tracts in the history of the Lutheran church.
Project Connect is a booklet ministry program of Lutheran Hour Ministries that provides our congregation an additional means of guidance and support to visitors, members, or others in the community. Project Connect addresses a wide variety of topics, offering booklets that connect God’s Word to real-life issues.
